Guess He Didn't Liker ...

There's been quite a buzz around here lately about the "NFL Tough, Stanford Smart" Tony Liker, who also happens to be running for judge in Department S.

Well, Tony's flushing the judicial misconduct from his system early - you know, so he won't be tempted once he actually takes the bench. He reportedly disappeared Sunday night after (allegedly) trying to run over his wife in his car.

The argument reportedly started as a domestic dispute, when Mr. NFL Tough decided to go all vehicular on his bride. Mrs. Liker was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries; Tony is still at large as of this writing.

Tony was previously arrested on a domestic violence charge a couple of years ago after fighting with a roommate. When asked about the incident while running for judge, he said it was dismissed after authorities reviewed the facts of the case.

A helpful Tipster reminded us that Tony once wanted to start a TV show starring him as a judge who boxed defendants in domestic violence cases. We posted about the story a while back, but we thought this would be a good time to revisit, what with Vegas lawyers going Hollywood now.

If you find yourself a little heavy on billables today, here's .5 you'll never get back:

Stay classy, Tony Liker.

(Thanks Tipsters!)

***UPDATE***
Channel 13 is reporting that Liker is no longer "at large," but has yet to be questioned by police. They also have some additional information about the incident.

He's dumb as a brick, too.

It's incredible that members of the NV Bar keep upping the ante in embarrassing the rest of us.

This is far less embarrassing than either our stable of stupid judges or Howard Awand and his band of thieves. Other than to his wife, this guy is harmless.

8:15 nailed it on the head...

Then again at least we know who to mock, laugh at, not be like, etc.

I can't wait for the ABA to have another article featuring our legal community.

Vegas Law is like pro rasslin without the good guys.

WTF???!!!

That's it. I'm giving up my license and getting a job at at 7-11.

What a douche.

What was Lyndon Johnson's comment about Gerald Ford? "I think he played too much football without his helmet on..." Gotta love LBJ quotes!

Anonymous said...

I'd watch it.

I've heard rumors in the past that he likes to whip his wife into shape.

What do you tell a woman with two black eyes? Nothing. Tony's already told her twice.

Ohhh! try the veal

OK... this makes "Las Vegas Law" (Get Lucky with Bucky, R.I.P.) look like Law & Order.

"Gerald Ford can't walk and chew gum at the same time."

"If Lincoln was alive, he'd be spinning in his grave."

So in this reality show, when Liker is the defendant which "judge"* would he have to fight?

* Term used loosely. Pro tems acceptable.

Liker against the tag team of Cristalli & Sagese. The winner will be crowned King of the Television Turds.

Claus v. Liker would be an interesting heavyweight bout.

AFAIK Claus does MMA as a hobby so my money would be on him over Liker's boxing.

I am a newly minted attorney and I am quickly beginning to realize that the bench is bereft of our best and brightest and jam-packed with seedy and attention-hungry psychopaths.

The bright side? While I was still in law school I used to worry about losing my nerves in court when I started making appearances. That was a waste. They're all such jokes, you don't even have to picture them naked.

@4:15,

My Civ Pro professor once told me the following joke, which I have found pretty applicable:

What do you call the graduates who got straight A's in law school? Professors.

What do you call the graduates who got B's and C's in law school? Attorneys.

What do you call the graduates who barely passed their classes?
Your honor.

4:15pm...don't feel bad, I went through the same realization myself a few years back, you are not alone...

4:15 You don't have to picture them naked but it sure is fun. Grrrrrrrrrr Judge Miley.

Anonymous said...

Shhhhhh.....

Randy Miley is hiding Liker....
he knows how it feels.

Anonymous said...

4:43 - Did you mean Judge Miley also has two black eyes?

Who cares about naked when they come that dumb. You have to be desperate to want something that stupid. I'm sure she has as much "emotion" as on the bench. Dull.

4:28 -

PRICELESS! Love it!

Anonymous said...

4:15 PM - you are wise in the ways of the world, grasshopper.

@ 4:15. With more experience you'll learn that there are shades of grey. There are several judges in Clark County I respect a great deal. There are several more that I don't like personally and don't respect, but that still get the job done.
There are a few, of course, that are simply retarded.

Aren't NFL and Stanford registered trademarks of those organizations? Mr. Liker certainly has the organizations authorization to abuse their intellectual property, doesn't he?

NFL smart, Stanford tough......

I can't believe 4:11AM (First off, what f'ing firm do you work at) went full retard. While I agree with his analysis, I do think someone should stand up for all of the mentally challenged people in this town that judges give a bad name by being called retarded. there must be a less negatively stereotypical term to associate the absolute mindless and ethically bankrupt individuals of the bench in LV.

mmmmm.....on second thought, maybe he/she nailed it. Can't get more retarded than an elected judge in LV. Gold medals all around, and not those stupid participation golds either.

Anonymous said...

yeah, you never go "full retard"

Anonymous said...

for LV judges, how about we call them "dull normal"

This is 4:15 again. I took 4:11 a.m.'s comments to heart, and after some serious introspection I feel it is my duty to repent and protect the good names of those on our bench whose honor should not be tainted by my prior sweeping generalizations.

While there a few District Court judges I have not appeared before, I think Gonzalez (Betsy), Wall, and Delaney are solid judges, Gonzalez being at the top of that list. She understands the law and calls people on their crap when she sees it. And no, this is not Betsy.

P.S. 4:11 a.m.? What are you doing on Wild Wild Law at 4:11 a.m.?

"NFL smart, Stanford tough......"

Literal lol

Anonymous said...

I've posted my list of judges before. I've appeared before just about every judge at least once.

Good:
Herndon
Togliatti
Gonzalez
Barker
Johnson

Not bad:
Vega
Hardcastle
Glass
Williams
Villani
Wall
Adair

Ugh:
Cory
Cadish
Bell (baby version)
Smith
Walsh
Leavitt
Mosley
Silver
Miley
Bixler

I'm sure everyone has their own opinion.

Anonymous said...

Smith is making a strong case for becoming the worst judge on the bench. Lazy? Check. Uninterested? Check. Incompetent? TBD.

Anonymous said...

Delaney and Wall should be included in the good group. Bell and Cadish bumped to the not bad. And Vega and Glass demoted to bad.

Anonymous said...

Half the judges in the good and not bad category were HORRIBLE when they started.

Cut Smith, Bix and Silver some slack.

Personally I like Cory a lot.
Walsh is terrible, but almost never rules against me. Better lucky than good.

Hey, I thought I knew him from somewhere. It's George "The Animal" Steele. Here he is at the zoo....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDEghXFUSco&feature=fvw

Click on the WWL link to channel 13. Read the posts to the article. Poster #1 says that he is Tony's neighbor (yeah, sure) and says what a good guy Tony is, how is wife is a *^()^(^, and the poster, for one, is tired of all the women claiming they are victims of DV. Must of been written by Tony! Sounds just like the same old, same old, argument you hear out of him when he argues against a TPO. Tony, do us all a favor, and next time do a better job of impersonating a neighbor!

While we have our share of goofy judges, 4:15 is a bit over the top and not unlike many newly minted attorneys who think they know SOOO much right out of law school. We have some very good, bright judges and we have some very good bright lawyers as well. Same in every profession, every town. So I suggest rather than puffing ones self up by putting others down, people find a way to be better and when the time comes, run yourself if you don't like who sits on the bench now.
